Barry vs Roger!

For the first time in Baseball History, a 300 Win pitcher met a 600 HR hitter. Better yet, Barry Bonds is sitting at 659 Homers trailing Willie Mays 660. ESPN is salivating at every Barry at bat until he ties Willie and Willie can pass the torch... yes you read that correctly. Willie Mays carried the Olympic torch back in 2000 and had his torch engraved with "660" He will pass it on to Barry once Barry ties him. He is actually following Barry and sitting in the dugout as a Giant's guest.

So with Barry coming to the plate in the first inning with Ray Durham at second with two outs, Jimmy Williams made the correct managerial call asking Clemens to intentionally walk Bonds.

Barry's second at bat became a true dual between 2 great players. Roger threw a fast ball outside for ball 1, then came back to throw 2 splitters for strikes with Barry swinging. Roger then just missed low on the next 2 splitters on the outside corner bringing a 3-2 count where Roger proceeded to strike Barry out looking on a knee high fastball on the corner.

As Yogi Berra would say, Bond's third at bat was "Deja Vu all over again!" With Barry striking out looking at a knee high fastball on the outside corner.

This battle was definitely won by the Rocket. Not only did he win the personal battle with Barry, Roger won the war pitching 7 innings of 1 hit shut out ball. It's kind of nice to be able to root for Roger again. I just couldn't do it when he was with the Evil Empire.
