It was another great day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. For you race fans in Indy, shame on you if you weren't out there today. For $5 there was the Menards Infiniti Pro Series Freedom 100 and a busy day of practice for the Indy cars.
The IPS cars can and did race side by side through the turns at Indy. Brazilian Thiago Medeiros won today's race after passing Jeff Simmons on lap 13 and holding Jeff at bay for the remainder of the race. There was lots of passing throughout the pack and it was a cool race.
It was also one of the best practice days I've seen in a long time. Drivers were looking for other cars to run with so they could test their setups in dirty air. At one time, Helio, Hornish, Kanaan, Wheldon, Judd, and Fernandez were all nose to tail passing each other lap to lap for a good 15 laps. Another time saw Carpenter, Barron, Unser, Gordon and Hornish running in a pack for quite awhile.
And despite what the Star keeps saying, there will be 33 cars in the field after qualifying tomorrow and there could be a bump or two. Should be exciting tomorrow as well.
Indy in May... what a great place to live!
