Journalist Hacks!

I am getting so sick of these so called "journalists" and their slanted writing while their editors don't do any fact checking. I submit one near and dear to my heart. The Indy 500 just keeps getting slammed as no longer interesting, relevent, exciting... you name it... it's been printed. The writers that keep ripping it obviously don't follow racing or they wouldn't print the garbage Mike Celizic wrote for MSNBC today.

See if you can find the errors... I've highlighted a few below... Pathetic!

Indy 500 is quickly running out of gas

"If you know Gil de Ferran is a two-time Indy Racing League champion.." - He is a 2 time CART champion and Indy 500 Champion. Sam Hornish and Scott Dixon won the IRL the 2 years Gil competed in the IRL.

"Tony Hulman, the late owner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, formed his own racing circuit, the IRL.." Um... no... his son Tony George founded the IRL in 1996. Tony Hulman passed away in 1977... just a few years before the IRL was formed.

"There was an audience for CART races back then. There were even network television contracts.." - Hmmm... they still have a TV contract with ABC... in fact it is one of the longest running contracts in all of sports!

I should have known right away this would be a hatchet job when I read: "Quick, who won last year’s 500? If you guessed Gil de Ferran, you did the same thing I did, which was to Google the result." - If he needed a search engine to find out who won last year's Indianapolis 500, I am not sure he is in a position to discuss it.
