Back in the Spotlight Again! Unbelievable... this is a must read for all IU fans
Davis driven to revive Indiana
By Andy Katz
ESPN.com
Let me quote some of Davis' finer statements:
"I know we can't go 14-15 again. We could surprise a lot of people this coming year. We could win 20."
Hmmm... wow... lets set that bar really low so we are all surprised and tickled pink if we win 20 games this year.
"If Bracey had one more guy, that would have helped," Davis said. "But he was the only player returning who had scored in double figures."
Hmmm... I thought he had 4 other guys... Isn't College Basketball 5 on 5? Wow... I am so glad that Davis figured out that we were playing 1 on 5. Next year I guess we will be playing 2 on 5.
"If we had another scorer inside, then we could have won eight more games and been 22-7 instead of 14-15."
Where does he come up with these arbitrary numbers? A scorer inside would have produced 8 more wins? Maybe a real coach would have produced 10 more wins?
"We will be better next season (in 2004-05)," Davis said. "The people in Indiana want Indiana to be successful. We played for the national title with one NBA guy. We had a bad record at 14-15 last season. We were overwhelmed by Wake Forest, Wisconsin and Kentucky. But no one is working harder to get us back. I'm always driven to do that."
I sure hope we are better... can't be worse. We want Indiana to be sucessful? Well no Shit Sherlock. Michigan played for the National Championship with 4 NBA guys and they didn't win it either... you need some coaching.
And those are just the quotes. Davis must have told Andy some real whoppers that he couldn't even quote in print, so Andy paraphrased... be on the lookout for these topics when reading the article:
Heavily Recruiting Oden
hmm... what a waste of time. The guy is a guaranteed #1 pick... not a first rounder, a #1 pick. Stop wasting your time Davis!
Going to the Final Four in Indianapolis in April 2006
Davis' only chance there is going to the coaches meetings in Indy... he won't be taking his team.
He tested the other Big Ten coaches when he jokingly told them in a meeting this spring that he didn't know if he should be on a committee because he might not be back in a year.
Give me a break!
He couldn't willingly leave one of the best jobs in the country for a rather pedestrian gig at Auburn or Clemson.
Right, he couldn't... he wasn't qualified for those pedestrian gigs.
The gap inside was caused by a few recruiting misses.
Duh!!! Nice excuses though Mike...
Davis said the Hoosiers could finish in the top five in the Big Ten.
Wow... the top half... those are high expectations...
New assistants...
First I have heard about 3 new assistants and forcing Thad out just as DJ gets here... now that smells fishy!
This could be a long year!
