Bracey ready to shoot more 3s!

So Bracey learned a lot during his summer...
Hoosiers' Wright on target for junior year - CBS Sportsline

Some good quotes:

"What I learned is that everyone has a role on a team," We'll come back to this one.

It was tough," says Wright, who averaged 16.2 points per game as a freshman in 2002-03. "A lot of the upperclassmen expected to have their roles and expected to have those opportunities that I got. For me to come in and start as a freshman, especially after they'd just made it to the championship game ... I suspected a lot of players thought their spots were solidified already. For me to get as many shots and minutes as I did, it took a toll."

So let me get this straight... the chemistry issues on the team were because Coverdale and Hornsby felt they earned their spots on the team by making it to the Championship Game... yet Bracey just came in and became the man and that took a toll... NO SHIT???? I think we all saw that... and Bracey, you didn't take the team to the Championship game did you?

"I'm comfortable with my ability to shoot 3's," he said. "Teams know me for my ability to have range on my shots. For my team, that opens the floor a lot. That will create a lot of opportunities for my teammates.

I'm glad to see Bracey understands his role on the IU team... I can't wait to see him clank more 3 attempts... geez!

It wouldn't be an article about IU basketball without a brilliant quote from Mike Davis:

"Look at our films. Teams were face-guarding our guards -- face-guarding them. Defenses never concentrated at all on our inside players. They just guarded our guards all over the court. As an example, no one face-guarded the Lakers' guards. If they did, Shaq would have scored 100 points every night. When you have to help out on a big guy, it frees up a guard to go make plays. Bracey didn't have that last season."

Hmmm Mike... did you recruit a Shaq for IU? I don't think so. Therefore your NBA example is meaningless except to demonstrate that your NBA offense won't work unless you have a Shaq. It's awfully easy to face guard a team that stands around and your team stands around. Maybe a little ball movement... a little player movement would make it harder to defend... but what do I know... I'm just a "Hater"
