My Man Mitch in a pickle...

So here in Indiana we have a pretty good race going for Governor. Current Governor Joe Kernan, who took over a year ago for Frank o'Bannon after his death is in a neck and neck horserace with Mitch Daniels.

Joe Kernan was Mayor of South Bend from 1987-1996 until he joined o'Bannon as his Lt. Governor. Kernan is well liked and if not for the poor economy and job losses in Indiana, would be an easy re-election.

Mitch Daniels in the 90s held a variety of senior level positions at Eli Lilly, including a board seat on Indiana Power and Light Co. In 2001, Daniels joined President Bush's cabinent as the director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)

So this week, it came to light (pun intended) that Mr. Daniels sat on the IPALCO board at the time when the board recommended that IPALCO sell itself to AES... a Virginia firm that proceeded to eliminate 400 jobs and who's stock dropped from $25 a share to $.90 a share draining the retirement accounts of thousands of former IPALCO employees.

The Kernan campaign is hitting this hard with TV ads, radio ads and press releases.

I don't think this will sit well with the general public in Indiana. As if his $27 million in income in 2001 wasn't enough.
