What's up with advertising here in Indiana?
Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Lexus and Budweiser obviously ponied up some money to CBS for national ads. Couldn't CBS find any local advertising? Instead we got to see George Strait Mail Order Greatest Hits, Bob Seger's Mail Order Greatest Hits and John Mellencamp Mail Order Greatest hits where local ads usually run. I see those at midnight on Sunday night in between the infomercials.
Hmmm... lets see, Channel 4 here in Indiana can't get advertising for IU games, so they only televise a handful these days and no preseason games like in the past. IU cancels the Mike Davis show this year due to a lack of advertising. Hmmm...
Oh yeah, I do have an answer to my intitial question. Interest in IU basketball has gone way, way down. There are a lot of basketball fans out there that like watching good basketball. This is Indiana, we all grow up watching good basketball in high school. We don't like watching BAD basketball. And that is what IU basketball has become.
