A couple of gems from the Post Game Radio Interview.
"I thought our guys fought hard and we got the ball inside, we just didn't make plays." - Mike
Well this seems to be the standard answer after every loss.
"We got shots inside and going to the basket, we just didn't make them." - Mike
You didn't make them because Iowa is tall and has shot blockers inside.
"I thought DJ played a great game... It was real physical but he played well." - Mike
Nice observation... I saw that one.
"Marshall played a better game than Bracey." - Mike
No Shit Sherlock... Bracey had 10 pts on 12 shots and was 0-4 from 3. Marshall had 9 pts going 4-4 and 1-1.
"We just didn't play with a lot of intensity" - Mike
Another standard answer after a loss that doesn't seem to match the "we played hard" comment.
"I told our guys we have to try to make the basket because we aren't getting any calls, but
we just missed shots. " - Mike
Aren't you supposed to try to make the basket? Maybe that has been a problem there Mike.
"Unfortunately we came up short. " - Mike
Thank you Mr. Obvious!
"I didn't query him further because he was very hot with the officiating and I didn't want to get him in trouble with the B10 Officials." - Don Fischer
Well Don, maybe you should have asked him why he was upset with the officiating? The officiating didn't cost us that game, coaching did. But then again, IU pays you, and you have to be nice. I am sure this is just killing you as you spent 30 years with the General and know basketball.
OMG... Leary and Fischer were blaming the officials for this loss. Are you frigging kidding me? If anything IU was getting some very questionable calls. Anyone who is blaming the officials for this one is just plain NUTS!
At least Leary came back and said that he didn't think IU played well enough to win. "I liked DJ White's performance tonight. He wasn't complaining about the officiating. He just kept going to the basket and when he got fouled, he made 11 of 13 from the line." - Todd Leary
I can't wait to hear more Davis post game quotes... they are just so entertaining!
