This is just classic...
"Normally the magic number is 18, 19 or 20," Davis said. "But if we can win 16 or 17 games with our nonconference schedule ranking high from a strength of schedule standpoint, that should be enough.
"They talk about rewarding teams for playing tough schedules; I hope they'll reward us."
The NCAA committee usually looks for "good wins" when you play a tough schedule... Indiana State, Western Illinois, Furman, Oral Roberts, and Ball State are not "good wins!"
"We just have to take care of home, and then find a way to steal a couple on the road," Davis said.
Even if they would win all 8 at home, stealing a couple on the road would only get them to 15 wins. Guess he is also counting on winning a game in the B10 tourney.
5-6 Pre-B10, 10-6 B10 and 1-1 B10 Tourney = 16-13
I somehow doubt that would get IU in the Big Dance. But we shall see... I hope Mike is a better soothsayer than he is a coach.

This team has not shown any indication that it can go 10-6 in the B10. I also don't think the selection committee is going to be very impressed by a team that has proven it can lose to the top programs.
I couldn't agree with you more on this one.
