Lavin and Musberger...

We B10 fans are just oh so lucky to have these 2 clowns do the B10 ESPN games.

Tonight while doing the MSU-UW game, they had some beauties.

Erin Andrews first stand-up was a brief story on how the MSU-UW game at Wisconsin in 2003 really lit a fire under the rivalry when Wisconsin, up 9 with 10 seconds left threw a fast break ally oop dunk. Hill and other MSU guys felt they were rubbing salt in the wound, while the Wisconsin guys claim they were taught to play until the final whistle. Erin threw it back to Brent and Steve asking what how they felt about running up the score. Brent took the opportunity to talk about how Steve Mariucci, Mooch, was a buddy of Izzos. And Steve talked about how he was such a huge 49ers fan. HUH???? Erin had an interesting standup with an interesting question for L&M and they flat out weren't even paying attention.

Brent must have been getting paid by how many times he brought up Mooch. In the first half alone he mentioned him 4 times including saying hi because he knew he was watching from the scouting combine in Indianapolis.

Lavin must have just learned the term "old-school" Because he referred to both Ryan and Izzo as "old-school" coaches. At least he got the concept correct tonight... Davis is not "old-school" unless you consider the defunct CBA as "old-school."

And this was the best. They are talking about MSU's women's program getting a share of the B10 title with a 14-2 record. They showed a graphic of MSU at 14-2, Penn State at 13-2 and Ohio St at 13-2. Musberger actually said... There won't be a 3 way tie for the championship as Penn State and Ohio State play each other in the final game of the season. But the possibilities are there for a 2 way tie at the top. Really??? Since PSU and OSU are playing each other, one will win and one will lose. One will finish at 14-2 tied for the title and one will finish 13-3, one game back. This is about as simple as it gets. Scary! But then Brent through in this to wrap up the discussion... "But I really fell that Illinois will play a part before it is all over." HUH??? They hadn't mentioned Illinois, so I had to look up where Illinois stood in the womens standings. They are 6-8 and in 7th place. I don't get it.

But on a positive note, I didn't have to hear a Mike Davis Love Fest. But the strange part was that here are 2 of the best coaches in the B10, and they didn't comment about them at all. They kept talking about Mooch being a great coach. Guess it just goes to show that if you are a great coach, it doesn't need to be brought to us stupid fans' attention every two minutes like they need to do with someone who isn't a good coach.

The best though, was a sign in the Izzone:

The Spartan Machine is Well Oiled Like Lavin's Lid!

Now that is just plain funny!

I'm going to have to become a Big East or SEC fan... they get the 2 best... Mike Patrick and Bill Raftery.
