ESPN's Love Affair with Mike Davis

Mike must have something on someone at ESPN. The perpetual love fest is just unbelievable.

A few of the better quotes...

"There is enough talent on this team that next year they should be ranked as a preseason favorite in the B10."

"Mike has the largest playbook in the B10 and maybe all of the NCAA. And it is really cool that he keeps adding to it during the season. He will watch an NBA game, see something and add it to the playbook the next day. It really takes a knowledgeable coach to do that."

"With this youth, IU has a really bright future and I really believe that Davis is safe for another year."

"If IU would make a change it would have to go down in history as the first time a coach has been let go after a 10-6 record and averaging 19 wins a season for his career."

What I really love though, is that while they are singing Davis' praises as a great coach, they are also pointing out all the bad things that thisIU team does. That was a really quick shot that led to a fastbreak for Vandy. There is just no movement on the offensive end. IU just doesn't pass the ball in this offense. It is all one on one. IU keeps getting backdoored as their defenders are losing sight of their man.

Then when it becomes clear that IU is done, they start making excuses for Davis.

"I thought this was a really tough draw for Indiana because they had to play against a style that is so tough to play against."

"I think it is hard for the home team to get up to the level needed to play when there isn't a full house. It was a more difficult task tonight for Mike Davis than for Kevin Stallings."

Somebody at IU is doing one hell of a PR job. Now if they could just focus it on Football, IU might be able to get that program turned around. Or at least everyone will think it is turned around.

"I would be shocked if I was let go." - Mike Davis

Come on Greenspan... Shock the World!!!!
