Good Luck Bracey!

As expected, Bracey Wright announced today that he will forego his Senior season at IU to put his name in the NBA draft.

IU's Wright declares for the NBA Draft

Bracey never endeared himself with IU fans with his me first attitude. And Mike Davis certainly didn't help with his "Help is on the Way!" comment, followed up with handing the keys to the car to Bracey when Coverdale and Hornsby were both Seniors.

Now a new Braceyless chapter begins at IU. Was he a cancer to the program, or was he simply a symptom of the greater disease leading the program? For Bracey's sake, I hope he was just a symptom and a couple of years overseas may allow him to improve his game and take a shot at the NBA. How will his leaving early without graduating affect the scholarship situation in B-Town with the new NCAA rules? Will that scholarship be available, or revoked?

Next year will be interesting. If the team underperforms, Davis has his excuse... they lost their leading scorer from the previous year. If the team has a decent year, watch for Davis to demand a contract extension... he can't possibly recruit without a longterm deal.

I'll be watching from the couch with a lot more money in my pocket. Actually, with the money I will save, I just might be sitting on a new couch... one with fine Corinthian leather.
