Run a campaign promising Daylight Savings Time and a move to the Central Time Zone, then bail on the Central Time Zone promise... leaving us all in the dark in the morning.
It will be nice waking up in the Dark all but 2 months a year. But I will be able to play 18 after work every day in the summer since it will be light until nearly 10pm.
And yes I will be bitching when I have to change my clocks... STUPID!

Did you hear that Congress recently passed a law (I think it was the 2005 Energy Bill or something like that) that will extend Daylight Savings Time by two months? It will start in March and end in November (currently it starts in April and expires in October). If signed into law by the President, it would take effect this Fall.
I had not heard that. What wonderful news. That just makes my day. Thanks!
I am curious as to how this plays into an energy bill. You still have the same amount of daylight... so moving the clocks doesn't save energy usage.
I can't wait until Mitch tells me how great this is.
Perhaps Mitch can get Harry Potter to come to the press conference, so we can learn about the magical properties of Daylight Savings Time. Why, with just a flick of our wands, we can turn back clocks and stop the sun from spinning in the sky! Huzzah, muggles! Huzzah!
In all seriousness - maybe this made sense back during the early 20th century, when people actually slept 9 hours a night. For better or for worse, we're now a 24-hour-a-day society, and my computer is on all the time, light or dark. I have no idea why DST will make any difference in my energy usage.
For a while, I actually started wishing for Central time so that I wouldn't have to get up in the dark all year round. I get up at 5:15 in the morning (I'm an early workout person who has to be to the office by 7:30), so I like to be in bed by 10pm. In June, I'll be in bed when the sun is still up, and I'll still get up in the dark.
Way to go, Mitch.
Thanks Anna... now I have this great visual of Mitch in a Harry Potter outfit. Actually it would fit without him needing to go to a tailor. Sorry that was a low blow... but I couldn't resist.
I've heard all this "energy savings" because people won't have to have their lights on for an extra hour at night. But won't people need their lights on in the morning when it is dark? And during the day I don't need my office lights on right now, but in the morning I will need my lights on at work. It's just a guess, but I'm thinking office lights use a bit more energy than my lights at home.
