Bruce Pearl and Tennessee

I sure am glad that IU kept Davis and didn't take a chance on Bruce Pearl from UW-Milwaukee at the end of last year. Here's a guy that has won 317 games, a.791 winning percentage and has a tremendous amount of head coaching experience. He lead Southern Indiana to nine NCAA DII Tournaments including a National Championship in 1995 and a runner-up finish in 1994. In 4 seasons at UW-Milwaukee, he went to the NIT once, and made 2 trips to the NCAA tourney advancing to the sweet 16 last year. He would have been a perfect fit with his recruiting ties in the midwest and the state of Indiana.

But IU stayed the course with Davis... rewarded him with a $300K bonus and a $100K raise and sent him on a 1 year mission "to improve" with 3 1 year players. At the same time, Pat Summitt assisted the UT Athletic Director on their search and they found a Jewel... pun intended!

Right now Pearl has a Volunteer team that finished last year at 14-17, undefeated at 6-0 including a win today at #7 Texas

Tennessee 95 - Texas 78

Can't wait for next year when Tennessee is beating Kentucky in the SEC and IU is back to getting killed by Kentucky. Sorry, I should look for the silver lining... IU is going to have a solid year (who cares about next year) and I now have a team to root for in the SEC.
