Colts 13 - 1

Ugh! The Colts came out like a team that had met all their goals for the season and San Diego came out like a team fighting for their playoff lives. The Chargers held a 13-0 lead at the half and it looked like the dream of an undefeated season was over.

The Colts sputtered on their first possession of the second half and San Diego got a field goal for a 16-0 lead with 8 minutes left in the 3rd. Peyton finally got things going with a couple of key completions to Stokely and Harrison and got on the board with a Vanderjagt field goal. Then the Colts Defense took over. An interception got the Colts excellent field position and 2 plays later Edge was in the end zone. A Freeney sack and fumble recovery gave the Colts excellent position again. First play Peyton threw a strike to Clark for a TD and a 17-16 lead.

The 4th quarter had the Colts defense force a Charger punt and then the Charger defense forced a Colts punt. The Colts had SD pinned deep with 3rd and long, but McCardell got behind Sanders for a 50 yd catch putting SD in FG range. Kaeding hit a 49 yd FG to put SD up 19-17. On the kickoff, Rhodes fumbled giving SD a first down at the Colts 30. Brees went for the dagger on 1st down throwing the ball into the end zone were it was picked off by Nick Harper with 5:30 seconds left. The Colts drove to the 25 of the Chargers, but an intentional grounding call when Peyton threw one away, and 2 consecutive sacks took the Colts out of FG position. A punt into the endzone gave the Chargers the ball with 2:25 seconds left. On 2nd and 13, Michael Turner ran 83 yds with Tomlinson on the bench... San Diego 26-17. Game over... Undefeated season over.

Look out AFC... The Colts aren't going to be too happy now. On to the SuperBowl... Go Colts!

Less than an hour ago I thought I was going to be posting a similar article regarding the Chargers loss; fortunately my day has turned out great. I'm not gloating, though I'm not sorry your Colts lost; I can feel for Dungy and Manning and the rest of the team. Yet I'd sure like to see my Chargers make the Playoffs.
