I can't really comment much on this game as I saw bits and pieces of it on a distant TV in Louie's Bar in Syracuse while dining on deep fried Chicken Hearts... Louie's has some of the best if you are ever in Northern Indiana.
If anyone has a eye-witness report, please feel free to post a comment.
I did hear the post game Davis interview with Don in the car after the game. Davis made one comment that made me go HUH? I will paraphrase... "Don, I can't wait for the B10 season when I can play Ben Allen. These teams have all been so small that I just haven't been able to play him."
WHAT??? Wow! I sure would hate to play a Freshman in these pre-B10 games since he doesn't match up well. Better to keep him on the bench... he's learning a lot there.

Come on Steve you've been watching Davis for 6 years now. You should know that Davis always matches to the opponent instead of having the opponent match to him. With Butler's lack of size it was perfect for him to play his 4 guard offense.
And why would you risk a potential loss and a lost contract extension to just get some freshman some playing time? There will be plenty of playing time for Ben next year when everyone else is gone. Davis needs to make sure Marco is his "favorite son" and he did so tonight.
Seriously, my biggest concern after tonight's game were Turnovers to Assists. And yes I put them in that order because IU had 16 turnovers to 11 assists. The offense tonight was very stagnant and IU didn't try to push the ball up the court much at all.
IU under Davis doesn't understand the importance of every possession and as long as they keep turning the ball over, they will lose close games.
This whole matchup thing drives me nuts!
It is an awful excuse at the college level. High School players play against guys smaller or larger than they are all the time. I'm sure Ben has been taller than the guys he has played against for the last 4 years. Sitting him on the bench right now in "BLOWOUTS" is just plain STUPID!
I'm sure later in the year when they lose a close game because Ben struggles in a tight situation, it will be because Ben just hasn't played enough minutes. He could be playing right now and getting that experience to make a difference later in the season.
And I would have loved to have seen Butler's 6-4 power forward guard Ben. He could have shot over him all day long.
