IU - Eastern Michigan

Another Cupcake came a calling to Assembly Hall... Eastern Michigan brought their 1-2 record to IU. Eastern Michigan played a slow down game and by utilizing a 2-3 zone on the defensive end, maintained a tempo they could play within. IU was unable to push the ball as fast as they wanted. After the big Duke game, you had to expect IU would come out flat and for the most part they did.

IU had a 40-32 lead at the half, but EMU outrebounded IU 14-12 in the first half with Killer only getting 1 rebound.

EMU cut the lead to 52-47 with 14 minutes left. At this point IU has taken 36 total shots, 20 of them 3s making 8. Wilmont is trying to be Bracey with chucking 3s whenever he touches the ball. Very bad shot selection on Wilmont's part.

Bowler has just dominated Killer inside... I guess that's what we should expect when there aren't any NBA scouts in the Hall.

IU again shot very well from the field. However, the shots weren't contested, and I'm sure after the hands in the face during the Duke game, these were like shooting H-O-R-S-E.

Up 18 with 3 minutes left would have been a decent time to get Dinc a little bit of playing time... but no, Killer was still in there trying to pad his stats... that is until he fouled out with a minute left with 14 pts and 3 rebounds.

Final IU 79 - EMU 63

Something I keep seeing and I don't like. Killer keeps giving up deep post position to his man and tonight his man was 6'9" and kept dropping little baby hooks right over his head for easy buckets. That will really hurt in the B10. Bowler ended up with a career high

Something I saw that I really liked was Ben Allen's ability to post up inside. Once Killer was on the bench in foul trouble, IU started feeding him the ball and he was making solid post moves for easy buckets. His Post defense leaves a lot to be desired, but then again when coached to play behind your man 5 feet from the bucket, it's hard to play post defense well.

And a big Congrats to Mike Davis for getting Career victory #100 to go along with 68 losses. Keep up the great work Mike. That bonus this summer ended up being worth $3K per win, or $4,400 per loss.

And I want to thank Herbert, Greenspan, Dolson and Davis for saving me $88.45 tonight for a grand total already this year of $1,242.50.

One stat that has consistently frustrated me during the Davis era is freethrow shooting. For this game, EM made as many shots as we attmpted: 13. During the Knight era, IU consistantly made more free throws than their oppenents attempted.

And the fact that IU only attempted 13 foul shots? That's unacceptable. Killer should be getting to line a minimum 10 times per game. However, he can't shoot them when he gets there. That boy makes Shaq look good from the line.
