Big 10 Season Begins - IU vs UM in B'Town

IU wins 70 - 63 to go to 9-2 and 1-0 in the B10.

What I liked:
1) IU's aggressive defense forced a lot of UM turnovers
2) IU continues to play very unselfish and they do make the extra pass which really helps at the offensive end generating assists.
3) Ben Allen adds a whole different dimension to IU's offense when he is in with Marco or DJ. His outside ability really spreads the court and opens up things for IU's guards.
4) The O'Reilly and State Farm courtside ads are much easier on the eyes and blended in with Assembly Hall.
5) Vaden, Vaden and Vaden!
6) Watching UM become undisciplined midway through the second half and abandon the successful inside game for chucking and missing 3s
7) Amaker may just be the 2nd worst coach in all of D1 bball... (Pretty Hair Boy is #1) I like Amaker at Michigan.
8) Home cooking
9) Vaden, Vaden and Vaden!
10) A scrappy IU victory where the IU guys wanted it more than the Maize and Blue.

What I disliked:
1) Marco continued his matador defense giving up easy inside position on UM's first 2 easy buckets inside and continuing throughout the game.
2) Marco and DJ don't block out and in turn, UM just dominated IU on the Boards.
3) IU's high number of turnovers continued.
4) The Fed Ex and Geico courtside ads were SO BRIGHT it screwed with the color levels of my TV. The state of Indiana looked YELLOW... nice!
5) Killer shooting 3 pointers when he still can't hit FTs
6) IU going zone and not defending the 3pt line giving up 2 easy 3s both times they tried it.
7) Davis only played Ben for 2 minutes in the first half and forced Vaden to play the 6'10" Brown who had 22 rebounds and 8 pts after averaging 5 and 4.
8) Marco continuing to complain to the officials... non-stop.

I still didn't get a clue though as to what the "IU Style" is. IU certainly wasn't pushing it up and down like an SEC team tonight.

Steve:

The style of basketball is called undiscipline basketball or better yet, "Turnover City."

I am disgusted with the coach and "killer" questioning the officials. Live with it and move on. We are now playing in the Big Ten Conference.

This is not the IU basketball program we all are familiar with.

IU finishes third (at best) in the conference.

You are not a "true fan". You must be a Davis Hater or a Knight fan. How dare you question IU!!!

Just kidding... I agree with everything you said. The sad thing, is 3rd or 4th in the conference will get Davis a contract extension and "turnover city" will continue for another 10 years.

As for those crazy 6pm starts... They had a couple of them 2 years ago for the first time, then 3 last year. It was rough getting to the game. I had to leave work by 3pm just to get down there to see the tipoff. I have not missed that at all this year... and I've saved alot of money.
