Here is a transcript of Davis' post game quotes today per WRTV 6.
Um we wasn't ready to play. Um this is our third road game and all three games have looked the same. Um we look like a team that that um thats afraid to play on the road. I'm concerned about my basketball team being able to win a game on the road cause if you going to have a chance in this conference you gotta win a road game. You just gotta win some road games. If we can't win 8 um 8 home games and and um um no road games.
Um I don't even know who #32 was. Um I mean he was on the scouting report but um we didn't plan for him. I mean um that guy was was unbelievable. Um no one we played this year has guarded Marco like that. He just followed him, followed him, followed him. But but his guy was so clean, it was um embarrassing. He he was just so clean in his fundamentals. Um yous have to take your um hat off to coach Monson for playing some guys that normally wouldn't start.

Um, that statement was, um, was what I would, uh, call inarticulate.
Steve, please please please please tell me you embellished the we wases and yous. Please tell me you were taking satiricle shots at Davis's basketball intelligence. Please tell me that a head coach of a Division I university, an institution of higher learning, DID NOT USE "we wasn't ready" and "yous have" in sentences.
For the love of well diagramed setences, please tell me you made this all up.
Nope... everything was VERBATIM.
I had to keep rewinding the DVR to make sure I had everything correct.
I think we've stumbled upon IU's style: Inarticulate. Sure, you can understand it some of the time, even execute it to the point where you win some games. But put the bright spotlight on the speaker/player, and you get stumbling, stuttering, stammering, and horrible grammar/execution.
I'm crying right now.
But but his guy was so clean, it was um embarrassing. He he was just so clean in his fundamentals. Um yous have to take your um hat off to coach Monson for playing some guys that normally wouldn't start.
How about giving credit to coach Monson for teaching number 32 the fundamentals of basketball? I'll tell what is embarassing. The fact that our guys seem to lose their grasp of fundamentals under Davis. That's embarassing.
Now I'm smacking my head on my desk.
If we can't win 8 um 8 home games and and um um no road games.
I think I know what he's trying to say here, but I don't see why he has a problem with that strategy. It's the same he employed for the recent road trip. IU would simply be splitting the conference games: 8 home wins and 8 road losses. That's all he's really asking from his players, isn't he? A split effort?
My face is covered in blood from clawing out my eyeballs in frustration. I need to stop thinking about this and go clean up.
IU's style = inarticulate
Brilliant!
Funny Stuff! Sad that you are spot on!
Thank you Spork Boy. I thought I was the only one with a problem with what was going on .
Steve:
I found the adjective to describe Sunday's game.
WINSOME
No, win some is what the Hoosiers need to do.
I wish I could take the credit for the following but I can't. A quote from Terry Hutchens of the Indianapolis Star.
"The journey from contender to pretender took all of a week for the Indiana Univesity men's basketball team."
I couldn't say it any better. I love it!
FIRE DAVIS! FIRE DAVIS! FIRE DAVIS!
Wow... that came from the Davis Cheerleader Hutch? I can hardly believe it. Someone must have kidnapped him and tied him up in the barn and submitted a story on his behalf.
Sounds like a great self-help book: How to Go from Contender to Pretender in Only 7 Days.
May the basketball gods, if they exist, have mercy on our souls.
Spork Boy, love your comments earlier today. Old School SNL quality stuff there.
Thanks, Jeff. Me thinks I'm just a wee bit frustrated with the team right now. Davis is making high comedy easy right now. Props to Steve for taking the time, and certanly suffering greatly, to write down the "coach's" comments.
