Relaxed Davis enjoys success! - fortwayne.com
Marco says:
“This has the feel of an SEC team,” Killingsworth said. “We get up and down (the floor) like an SEC team. But we’ve got more shooters than SEC schools.
“The SEC is mostly big men. The Big Ten is mostly guards. I ain’t never been on a team that’s had great shooters like this. You can’t leave none of our guys open. At Auburn, they triple-teamed me the whole time and daring our guards to shoot.”
DJ says:
“We’re very athletic,” White said. “I guess you could say that the Big Ten is a pound-it conference. But we’re more of an athletic team. We just give teams a different look that they mainly haven’t seen before. The SEC is an up-and-down conference, and we try to get up and down similar to that.”
Mike Says:
We have different type players,” Davis said. “Our style is different. I don’t think anybody else plays like us, and that’s good.”
Great... we are an SEC team in the B10. I don't know about you, but I just love the SEC... Kentucky, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Auburn... yipee!!! I wonder how Davis sells that "style" when out talking to Indiana HS kids and their coaches? I guess I know that answer and that explains why we don't have more Indiana kids on the roster beyond AJ and Robert. Those Alabama and Georgia kids hear SEC and must understand Davis.
Personally I hear "ain't never been" and "can't leave none of our guys" and I just cringe!

Personally, I read a bitter old man's sad and obsessive blog and cringe. You're obviously not an IU fan, and you're not a Texas Tech fan. You're a Bob Knight fan, as pitiful as that is.
And, Bob Knight has absolutely nothing to do with IU anymore, thank god. So, do yourself a favor. Spend some more time with your family instead of analyzing and picking apart comments made by kids you could care less about, playing for a school you could care less about. Makes sense, doesn't it?
Seems as though you could take a little of your own advice. Posted at the bottom of your page, "These are my thoughts and only my thoughts... if you don't like them, don't come round here no more!".
Allow me to update it so that is applies to the IU basketball team. "This is the Indiana University basketball team... if you don't like them, don't watch no more!"
I also find it hilarious that you make a disparaging remark about the speech of Marco, yet have a glaring double-negative right on your front page.
Personally, I love people that come to MY BLOG to rip me, but fail to sign their name. Big words for Mr. Anonymous. Next time sign your name or send me an email so we can chat. Since you don't have a name, I will have to jump to the conclusion that you are a self proclaimed "true IU fan."
What I love about you "true IU fans" is how quick you are to rip apart anyone who questions anything about IU calling them "obviously" not an IU fan and then you never fail to bring up Bob Knight and how great it is that he is no longer at IU. Then as always you label me as a "pitiful" Bob Knight fan. The only thing you didn't call me is a "Mike Davis Hater!" That really is my favorite one. Maybe you were right on one thing though, I am analyzing and picking apart a comment made by someone I could care less about... you!
But let me continue... I'm not just an IU fan... I'm an IU alum who cares deeply for MY school. If you bother to read my blog, you would realize that, via my posts about Brand, Herbert, the COAS, the Business School, the athletic department, Greenspan, and the Varsity Club. If I was only a Bob Knight fan, why would I bother analyzing and picking apart comments from representatives of MY school.
Spend more time with my family you say... I did over the Holidays and the interesting thing is that my family feels the same way I do about IU. As well as my friends and colleagues. Hmmm... and they are also alums. Actually the only people that seem to be happy with the direction IU has taken in the past 10 years are those that didn't even graduate from IU. Does that make sense to you?
Signed the Bitter Old Man!
OUCH!!! Way to put that loser in his place Steve.
I too am an Alum and nothing bugs me more than being told I'm not a fan because I don't blindly cheer for IU.
If only IU would have held a real coaching search after Davis' interim season. I guarantee you Davis wouldn't have been hired and maybe, just maybe the IU fan base wouldn't have been splintered into "lovers" and "haters"
Keep up the good reporting!
Fred (Another Bitter Old Man)
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!
Anon takes a swing and WHIFF!
Steve takes a swing and knocks it out of the park!
Good stuff!
Oh and Steve I looked for that glaring double negative of yours and couldn't find it anywhere. Outside of you repeating Killer's double negative.
Well, Jeff, then you're just a glaring idiot, as I posted the double negative above.
Unless you don't know what a double negative is? Here, maybe this will help:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_negative
Hey everyone... Anonymous is back... and now he is calling Jeff a glaring idiot. Nice!!! Thanks for the compliment Jeff. You are welcome around here anytime.
My tongue in cheek complaint department reference was written just for folks like you Anon. Now do me a favor and don't come round here no more. Or if you can't understand that... GET THE F#$% OUT OF MY HOUSE!
Unless you have some brilliant insight into IU's style under Davis. I'm still waiting for someone to provide some bits of knowledge instead of calling people names like Mr. Anon here.
Note to Anon and anyone else thinking about using comments on my Blog for name calling:
I don't care what you call me. But once you start calling other folks names, I will delete your comments no matter what is in them. I will have a quick trigger finger.
Jeff, if you are offended by Anon's name calling, say the word and it will be gone.
A glaring idiot huh? I think that's a compliment on the internet isn't it? Don't erase the comments because of this one guy.
I'm with you Steve, I think it is sad that the new generation of IU fans resort to name calling because they too don't understand what is going on in B'town and are so blinded by their hatred of Coach Knight that they think Davis is a good coach because they are 8-2 this year. How quickly they forget the last 2 years. I can't even stand to go to Peegs.com anymore. That place is awful.
If only this guy could have seen your IU basement with the big carpet wall hanging of the state of Indiana with the interlocked IU in it. You are one of the biggest IU fans I've ever met.
Keep up the blog. I enjoy it.
Jeff, another bitter old man
I'm delighted that Anonymous called Steve an "old man."
I would just like to add, in defense of the "double negative", that the phrase "don't come around here no more" is a lyric by Tom Petty. Therefore, Steve is exonerated for the double negative and wins style points for an idoneous allusion.
AZ
AZ... I knew if anyone would pick up on my Petty reference it would be you or MW. Too bad Anonymous didn't darken my door since I knew what he was looking for.
'idoneous allusion' Very Nice!!!
Amazing what an Indiana HS education can do for us poor country bumpkins here in the heartland.
