Poor Davis!

This is beyond ridiculous... cut the ties NOW!!!

First off, Poor Mike is still sick and can't make his call in show tonight.

But wait, he was well enough to plead his case at the B10 Teleconference today. These quotes are a bit disjointed... thanks ESPN! When I get the full transcript I will post it.

Hoosier coach says team affected by rumors - ESPN.com

"Indiana needs to have one of their own," he said on a Big Ten weekly media conference call. "They need to have somebody that's played here so they can embrace him. They need that.

"I'm not upset about it, not disappointed about it," said Davis, who graduated from Alabama and replaced Bob Knight in 2000. "I think they need that. I really do, because these players deserve better."

Yeah Mike... we need one of our own... NOT!!! We just need a Coach. It really is that simple. But I do agree with your last statement. The players do deserve a better coach. And note to ESPN... check your facts... Davis didn't graduate from Alabama.
"I know a lot of teams around the country that have been happy to be one game out of first and ranked in the country," said Davis, whose team fell two games out of the Big Ten lead and out of the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 with the loss to Iowa. "But it's really taken effect on our players. Not just this year, but every year I've been here."
But Mike, this is the most talented team you have ever had. Your words Mike. I had a bit higher expectations. But then again expectations have been lowered so much the last 6 years that maybe we should just be happy to be one game out of first and ranked. Wait... we aren't ranked and we aren't one game out of first. Maybe that is why people aren't happy.
"It's been a tough thing for six years," he said. "The ones who are affected more by it are the players. If they really care about the coach and want to do well for the coach, it's going to affect them."
Here it comes... poor poor Mike. 6 years of underappreciation from the fans. Greenspan must get rid of him NOW!! If he stays until the end of the year and continues spewing this garbage, he will be Saint Mike. This could get really, really ugly for IU. Davis isn't going to go quietly.

Good news... Mike called into the show. These are not direct quotes as I just tried to type as much as I could get. It's not everything... but it is close.
Badly, but hopefully I can shake it. I missed the first half feeling so bad. I wanted to come in but by being an early early game I couldn't make the shoot around. I really couldn't shake it. Mike called me at the half so I knew it was over. I watched the second half. Thought we had opportunities. Turned the ball over, but didn't get it going until really really late. Thought Rupp and Marsh kept the team playing. I needed to be there, but just couldn't. I could see it on their faces that they needed me.

It was a very important game for us being just 1 game back. Our guys didn't have the energy to play. I just couldn't be there.

I thought practice went well today. They acted like they were happy to see me. I was weak and had a setback due to practice today. I went and saw Dr. Rink after practice. I hope I can get to practice tomorrow so I can make the trip to Penn State.

It's an important game for us and the first game on the road where the opponent doesn't have any big guys. They probably have the Freshman of the year as he's good. They beat Illinois at Illinois. They are a good team. It's a game we have to win. We must win. We really stepped it up today. The intensity and the emotion was there today.
I think I heard 5 people clapping in the background. That is just plain sad.

And note that was not me that called in as Steve from Indy. Funny though... and I loved the clapping in the background.

Great... ESPN is running with the Mike Davis soundbite from the B10 teleconference: "Indiana needs to have one of their own" on the 30 at 30 updates tonight. Then it was also was repeated at halftime of the Uconn vs Villanova game.

Poor Mike... he was an outsider and was never given a chance by these evil Indiana Fans. The only coach they would support would be a former player. Utter BULL$HIT!

Even more great news from Davis' shill Andy Katz on ESPN News. Davis told me that if he leaves, Vaden and DJ will go with him. Well here comes the "players will leave" pressure.

Greenspan, GET RID OF HIM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on Steve! Of course we want one of our own. That's why we loved Coach Knight - he graduated from IU. Didn't he? I thought he did. I know his college uniform had red in it.

this whole business is unreal.

I've never seen a resignation/firing/removal dragged out over such a period of time.

i feel it's time for a Carl Sagan voice-over to chime in "billions and billions of years ago..."

I mean does the IU AD have a some sort of ad serving deal with firemikedavis.com . Do they need 2 million more impressions to make their number for the month.

Jeez, just be done with the whole thing.

Davis had his chance to bow out graciously. He didn't do that so fire him already.

im just wondering if the millions and millions of indiana university fans have absolved myles brand from this "mistake in coaching choice?"

fine, take your shots at davis....he doesnt get enough out of his players...he makes questionable, at best, opinions...whatever you want...

i, for one, believed that bobby knight should never have been let go....so he jacked up some stupid kid (yes, i said stupid, anyone who antagonizes knight like that should and will be called stupid), but he got the best out of his kids, they graduated on time, and he generally cared about the kids he coached.

that being said...

who the hell follows a god like that?

we tried that at north carolina...yeah, bill gutheridge lasted for a couple of years, but he saw the writing on the wall, as dean did....then we brought in one of our own....an assistant, just like mike davis was...only our situation was worse....the players revolted against him.

will that happen at indiana, if you happen to draw steve alford away from iowa?

who knows.

looks like thats the risk that iu is prepared to take.

my question will be if alford does take over at iu...how patient will the fans be for him?

will it be five years?...three years?....will we be seeing a firestevealford.com website in one year even?

time will tell.
