Hey Sampson beats out Painter and Matta for a recruit. I hope that is a trend we see a lot of.Mike White, a 6-6, 240-pound junior college power forward from Springhill, La., made an official visit to Bloomington over the weekend and gave his verbal commitment to play for Sampson.Considered a top 10 junior college player in the country, White will sign with the Hoosiers Wednesday on the first day of the spring signing period, according to his coach, Roy Champagne of Lee College in Baytown, Texas.
“He had a great visit and he’s looking forward to playing in the Big Ten,’’ Champagne said. “He was really impressed with the players at Indiana, and everyone he came in contact with. I think he’s going to be a great fit in the front court at IU.’’
White averaged 19.1 points and 7.9 rebounds as a sophomore last season at Lee College and was the co-most valuable player in the Region 14 Conference. He chose IU over Purdue, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Charlotte. The only official visit he made last fall was to Purdue.

Will he have to sit out a year or will he be able to jump right in?
He'll be able to play from day 1 and will have 2 years of eligibility left.
My favorite quote from the article: "I tell them I want to get to know them, and then I say, 'Now, make the decision that is best for you.' What you have to realize when you're coaching is that you're coaching somebody's son. You should treat these kids like the way you'd want someone treating your son.''
At the very least, Sampson knows how to talk to the media.
