My New Toy!
On Friday morning my Dad and I embarked on a flight to Phoenix to meet Alan from www.arizonamuscle.com and pick up my new Baby.
After struggling with the pivoting clutch and late engagement and killing her numerous times, we were off and heading up I17 into the mountains towards Flagstaff.
A quick stop at Jack in the Box (It is no In-and-Out Burger) and we were back on I40 heading down old Route 66 through the painted cliffs of Western Arizona and Eastern New Mexico, past Albuquerque before stopping for the night in Amarillo.
Saturday morning included a slight detour to Lubbock to see the new home to the Coaching Genius of Bob Knight. After battling a WINDY I40 through Texas and Oklahoma, I now understand why they have wind generators in Western Oklahoma. And a note to Mitch... check out the Toll Road between Oklahoma City and Tulsa... they now how to make you feel good about paying 7 bucks in tolls... Free Restrooms... Woo Hoo!
After spending the night in Springfield, MO, we were up early for a curvy drive through the Ozarks, a glimpse at the new Busch Stadium, and a rather boring drive through Illinois and Western Indiana.
Thanks Dad! The trip was a blast!

Nice purchase. Looks like you got a heck of a car. Drive aggressively and enjoy!
what did the wife think? Mid-life crisis?
I sure hope it's not mid-life... I'm only 37.
Awesome! Now, you can be in the North Manchester Pig Knuckle festival parade, with a "Cletis Keaffaber for Town Council" sign on the side!! That's what all the people with nice cars are asked to do, right? ;)
By the way - thanks for reminding us that 37 is not mid-life, unless you're a caveman. Although it's freaking me out that I have a friend who is grown up enough to own a legitimately cool car...
What is is?
Let me guess.
She's a Porsche 911 Targa. She has the turbo wheels which if original would put her in the early 90s.
And she is gorgeous.
Very close Jeff.
She is a 911 Targa, but the Turbo twist wheels aren't original. She's an '82.
Alright, Straiger...that's enough!
That's one helluva birthday gift to yourself.
(Happy birthday, by the way...haven't checked your blog in awhile)
Wonder how many of those I could have if we didn't have three shorties. LOL
Just kidding folks, I wouldn't trade my kids for anything...but she sure is a perty car!
Enjoy!
And, how does Anna know about the parades in NM?
Oh, and what's with the barbed-wire in the pic?
Did you stop by the state pen? Or did you get serious about keeping the neighbor kids away from your new toy and install some 'protection'?
Yes... no kids allowed for this baby.
Anna's from North Miami... she had to come to fun fest to get out of the slums.
Did I not mention that I had to pick up my Dad at the State Pen? Just kidding. Took a couple of pictures at the Indy airport when we got back and had to pick up my other car. But it does look like a prison.
