The NCAA's Punishment

We all knew this was coming when IU made the Sampson hire. The only question was how much would it affect IU's recruiting. Lost scholarships would be a problem.

I personally don't see this having a huge overall effect. Sampson can't do any off-campus recruiting... not a huge deal as on court performance, combined with assistants that can sell what Indiana is doing will get recruits to make visits to IU. Once they make it to IU, the campus and Coach Sampson's coaching ability will get them to commit.

Not to mention that Sampson has already been able to get a few JUCOs to fill in the MAJOR gaps in size that Davis left. And the staff has already gotten a head start on the '07 and '08 classes.

What I don't understand is why the media is so fast to jump all over Sampson for this, but gave Davis a free pass on everything he did. Oh well... I for one am looking forward to watching a much better product on court next year.

Here's what I don't understand:

Cheater Sampson = Good.

Cheater Bonds = Bad.

Explain?
