My Opening Day...
I woke up, replaced my American Flag with my IMS Flag on my flag pole.
Had a nice breakfast.
Walked 2 and a half blocks over to the track at 10am.
Took a quick trip through the garage... saw JR and Al. Sr.
Stood 15 feet from Mario, Michael and Marco while they answered questions from the crowd for 45 minutes.
Saw an incredible Corvette parade. 33 rows of 3...
Listened to the Gordon Pipers
Watched 3 generations of Andretti's take a ceremonial lap.
Smelled that new Ethanol blend... yes it does have a hint of cooked corn smell.
Watched Michael, Marco and JP get up to speed quickly.
Ate a Tenderloin and a Miller Lite... yes the beer is water, but Miller created some very cool neon lights for the speedway and I will support them.
Took a trip through the Garage... saw Arie, Arie Jr., Little Al, Tomas Scheckter, Townsend Bell, Ed Carpenter, Airton Dare, J.P. Chesson.
Was stunned by the Vision #90 Rock and Republic paint job on Townsend Bell's car. BEAUTIFUL paint job.
Watched Marco run a very consistent line into T1... actually he and Michael were running the exact same line.
Watched Arie Jr. struggle with his entry into T1 and his speeds suffered because of it.
It was great seeing Little Al back on the speedway. Now we just need his son out there with him next year.
Enjoyed the 2 and half block walk back to my house where I wrapped up the day with a fine steak on the grill.
Just another beautiful May day in Speedway Indiana.

Did you get a farmer's tan yet? (Or at least a little red around the sunglasses line?) May at the track isn't anything without a good, stiff sunburn...
Of course I have a farmers tan ;-)
As for the Pole speed. Early weather forecasts have highs in the Low 60s on Saturday. Should be a good day for speed. I'm guessing 227-228. With the detuned engines this year, I just don't see 230 without a tow.
Greg, you coming up to Indy this year? IMS? Or Zoo?
