Has NASCAR jumped the shark????

First Toyota... now Montoya... I just don't see the fan base for NASCAR liking these developments.

F1 driver Montoya switching to NASCAR - indystar.com

Might be a reason for me to watch though. Personally I liked the Fonz on water skis.

Nascar in it's attempt to stay ahead of their entertainment curve have strayed away in recent years what made the sport great.

First it was the adoption of the point system. Works great if you have a dominate driver winning just about 30%-40% of the races. But now that you've added restrictor plates and made other tweaks to the dynamics of the sport it's just a matter of time before we see co-nextel cup champions.

Now they want to import other manufactuers and indy drivers?

What's next?

I'll tell ya what's next. I read on ESPN today that Danica is thinking of jumping ship too.

Don't believe the ESPN and Daddy Patrick hype machine. Danica's coming up on a contract renewal... it's all posturing. Her 4'6" 90 lbs couldn't muscle a taxi cab around an oval for 4 hours.

Though if NASCAR wants her... they can have her. It will just speed up the fall.
