I was disappointed when I heard the new ESPN Monday night football lineup...
Mike Tirico is a solid announcer and in theory could hold down the position... but sadly we all knew what we were getting with Theismann... the mouth that just won't stop spewing worthless babble. And then Kornheiser... the angry man who never played sports but loves to criticize endlessly.
So it was with trepidation that I turned on ESPN HD tonight. And after watching 30 minutes... I AM DISGUSTED!!!
All I hear is non-stop Theismann Blah, Blah, Blah with Kornheiser throwing Sitcom references in every 5 minutes... seriously... there was a Seinfeld, Frazier, and Friends reference in the first 15 minutes.
I thought I would give it a shot on Mute... but some brilliant producer decided to put a HUGE graphic with the score and time remaining front and center... not in the upper corners, or even the lower corners... no, I mean front and center. STUPID!
Guess I am going to have to scalp a ticket to the Colts Monday night game since I sure won't be able to stand watching it on TV.

Rave on, Steve.
Why can't sports announcers and commentators realize that they are there to talk about the game? NOT old TV shows. NOT their diets or digestions. NOT their sexual proclivities. NOT their golf game. NOT the kind of car they drive or would like to drive. NOT who they saw when they lunched at Ruth's Chris. NOT anything, except what is happening on the field or the floor at that moment.
Last night was just bad. I'm going to have to have the sound turned off. Boo ESPN...
Since it's just a preseason game, I really didn't pay too much attention to what was going on or the performance of the announcers. Hell, I was painting. But the fucked up genius who put the graphic dead center of the screen should be shot. I believe the 70s and 80s are over! That pissed me off more than the announcers.
mindless blather
it's what sports broadcasting is all about
i can't wait for September.
