Welcome Rick Greenspan!

Back in 1971, IU looked to a guy from the United States Military Academy at West Point to resurrect the IU Basketball program. Now 33 years later IU once again looks to West Point as a training ground for an Athletic Director that can resurrect the IU athlectics department.

Greenspan Appointed IU's New Athletics Director

I think this is a great hire. Mr. Greenspan has been an Athletic Director or Associate AD for the last 25 years. IU's last 3 ADs had no AD experience... this one had to be experienced. I think this quote shows that he is the right man for the job:

"Rick Greenspan saved the Army athletics program," said Brigadier Gen. Dan Kaufman, dean of the Academic Board and chairman of the Athletic Committee at the United States Military Academy. "We were in severe financial difficulties, and this affected our program of competition. He fixed all of that."

Army teams were highly competitive on Greenspan's watch. In overall sports standings in the Patriot League, Army's men's and women's athletic teams finished second in the league's President's Cup standings for the past three consecutive years.
