Steph and I just got back from visiting Darren and Laura in Columbia MD over the weekend.
It was a quick trip... but we had a blast. Got a great deal on airfare from Indy to Reagan... $120 roundtrip on US Air. Interesting flight rule though. Our pilot made a big deal before we took off that no one could stand up during the last 30 minutes of the flight. If someone got up, we would be diverted to another airport. Understandable since we are flying into our nation's capitol. So this woman sitting in our row is drinking a tall coffee she brought on the plane, then drinks a diet coke. Sure enough we are on approach and she hits the flight attendant button. The flight attendant comes to our row and she says she has to go to the bathroom. The flight attendant snapped at her... "NO you can't get up!" Suddenly I have this vision of this woman getting up and our flight being diverted to Pittsburgh. Fortunately she stayed put and we made it on time.
Had a great dinner at the Iron Bridge Winery... great food... great wine... great company... great night.
On Saturday we took the Metro into DC and saw the WWII Memorial. A great experience. The place was packed with WWII veterans shaking hands and getting their pictures taken with each other. Very touching! And the memorial was well done also!
It was a quick trip, but great to see Darren and Laura... we'll make that trip again. Thanks for the hospitality Darren and Laura!
