What a weekend of College Basketball. 3 overtime games in the elite 8. Illinois had the most incredible comeback I've ever seen. West Virginia hit 18 3 point shots and still lost to Louisville. Wisconsin gave N. Carolina everything they wanted. And the best came last in the Michigan State win over Kentucky in double overtime. Unbelievable basketball.
And it didn't take long for the IU PR folks to spin Mike Davis to the local media. I first heard it on Fox-59 at 10pm, then WRTV-6 at 11pm and lastly WISH-TV around midnight. All 3 said exactly the same thing. I will paraphrase... "Maybe Mike Davis new something with his 4 seed tirade. The B10 has proven to be the strongest conference out there and Mike had a case for IU getting into the NCAA."
Are you kidding me? All 3 stations saying the exact same thing. You can't tell me that wasn't some serious PR from IU. And all the NCAA tourney proved is that the B10 had 1 outstanding team in Illinois, 1 really good team in MSU and 1 good team that gives teams fits in Wisconsin. Iowa and Minnesota were average and the rest of the league was as weak as it has ever been. I wonder why they didn't comment about IU only playing Illinois and MSU once... but then again that doesn't support the tough schedule concept.
