Tomas Wins at Texas!

Tomas was able to get the Monkey off his back and won his second IRL race last night at TMS. Tomas dominated all weekend. He was fastest in practice, took the Pole, led the most laps and was able to work his way back to the front after every pit stop left hime in 4th or 5th.

Some other observations...

I loved the T-Shirts Rice, Meira and Wheldon wore to the Driver's Meeting... Rice wore "Danica's Teammate!" Vitor wore "Danica's Other Teammate!" and Dan wore "I actually Won the Indy 500!"

Dan Wheldon is becoming one of my favorite drivers. When asked about Danica Mania, he said "I don't care. I mean who gives a bleep (shit). If you were the owners of SI, would you put one of the 32 guys on the cover, or a hot chic? I mean that's pretty easy. All that matters is I won the biggest race in the world and my face is on the Borg Warner. I mean 20 years from now will anyone remember the hype over the fourth place finisher? They will remember me because I am on the Borg Warner." Outstanding Dan!!!!!!!!!

Kudos to Sam Hornish for teaming up with Tomas and sticking his nose behind Tomas for the last 30 laps. Not only did he push Tomas to the front, he was able to draft his much slower Toyota past Kanaan and Sharp's Hondas. Smart driving Sam!

I liked Danica's post race interview. 'I kind of had the same things happen at Homestead; you know, you drop back at the beginning, kind of figure it out, then you're behind -- it's OK. It's all part of the learning curve. Places like the last race at Indy, I had lots of time to practice, so ... as you can see, I just need practice.''

The ESPN/ABC Broadcast team SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

When Jimmy Kite had something break on his car, the suspension lowered causing sparks to come out from the right rear, right before the car went right into the wall, Todd Harris stated that Jimmy probably hit the wall due to fatigue from running the truck race the night before. WHAT??? 7 laps in and he is fatigued???

Todd left my whole family pondering the following comment about Dan Wheldon... "Dan Wheldon is like bad luggage... he just won't go away." Huh????

Then, Scott Goodyear started playing the fuel mileage calculations to determine how many more times teams would have to pit. On lap 140, with most teams having last pitted at 126, Goodyear guessed that by his calculations, most teams would have to pit 2 more times, with maybe a team or 2 being able to stretch fuel and make it on 1 more stop. Very interesting... had Scott been paying attention to the last fuel run, he would have known that most teams had gone between 43 and 46 laps under green on a tank of fuel. Now let's do some really simple math. With 200 total laps, if we work back 43 laps, teams could pit at lap 157 and make it to the end. If you subtract 43 laps from 157, you get 114. So if teams last pitted on lap 126, pretty simple math says they would only need 1 more stop. Ugh!!!!!!!!

And the biggest kicker of all... ESPN's 30 at 30... their new 30 second update at 8:30 just so happened to come with 11 laps to go and Tomas Scheckter on the outside of Tony Kanaan with a pass for the lead. All of that happens in the little screen in the corner while ESPN spends 30 seconds talking about Mike Tyson fighting later Saturday night. Brilliant timing ESPN!!!

Then this morning I'm watching Sportscenter and they mention that Danica started 3rd, then fell to 13th when her fueler made a mistake in the pits and she couldn't overcome that mistake. What???? She fell from 3rd to 15th on her own before the first pit stop. Why must the media make up news to fit their agenda? You see the crap they do with sports. How can you trust any reporting on International news? Enough editorializing.

Congrats Tomas! Win another one at Richmond!
