AGR - Stupid Move!

So as Danica Mania has taken over the Indy Racing League and is bringing new fans to the series left and right, a few crybabies just can't handle the fact that someone is more popular than they are.

AGR drivers stage a Danica protest
- IndyStar.com

Andretti Green Racing's four drivers -- Indianapolis 500 winner and IRL points leader Dan Wheldon, defending IRL champion Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti and Bryan Herta -- boycotted Saturday evening's mandatory fan autograph session at Wisconsin State Fair Park because organizers created a different waiting line for rookie Danica Patrick, the league's only female driver.

AGR team members don't like the way the league has promoted Patrick over other drivers in marketing efforts.

"It's a serious issue and we need to talk (with league officials) about it," AGR co-owner Kevin Savoree said Sunday prior to the A.J. Foyt 225 at the Milwaukee Mile.
Hey Kevin... yes it is a serious issue. Your drivers aren't popular. Dario Judd is as personable as a wet noodle. And what was with his Psycho Wife's interview during Sunday's race? Tony Kanaan won last year's championship, yet he isn't a household name. Maybe you need to look at your PR folks a little more closely? Dan Wheldon won the Indy 500 this year, but was a bad interview during his post race media tour. All he talked about was his clothes and shoes. America doesn't want to hear about his Metro side. A little better PR coaching could have helped that. Brian Herta is a quiet guy who is never in the spotlight. And now their collective jealousy over Danica's popularity is leading to them boycotting the fans???? That's really smart.

And Kevin... while you bring this "serious issue" up with Brian Barnhardt, be sure to bring up the much bigger issue of Dario and Tony's blocking and aggressive driving techniques. I hear he's just dying to talk to them about that issue. Personally I would rather he just black flag them during the race.

I've never been a Michael Andretti fan and I never will be. Crap like this is just what he used to pull himself as a driver. Too bad he is rubbing off on Kanaan and Wheldon.

Viva Danica Mania!!! And I never thought I would say that...

Steve, when you posted this, I thought, "Sure, that makes sense." But something has gone terribly wrong. Bob Kravitz's column in the Wednesday Star says almost the same thing! So there's gotta be something wrong about it. Kravitz is never right. He is always defending the turd because the dog can fetch, or something equally twisted. So, this time, just on principle, I gotta go against you. Sorry.

Boycott them autograph sessions, guys!
