New Assembly Hall Scoreboard

Finally IU decides it's time to upgrade the Scoreboards in Assembly Hall.

$1.99 Million????? Wow... guess they don't need my measley grand if advertisers are willing to drop that kind of money to get their naming rights on a scoreboard in Assembly Hall.

It looks like they copied the scoreboard at Conseco. Not a bad thing as I think that scoreboard is top notch. Unfortunately B10 no replay rules will prevent it from being used other than to show dunks and chucks from previous games. Oh and plenty of ads during time outs. I will be curious to see if the Band's role is downplayed to get ads in. I sure hope not.

According to Mike it should improve recruiting.

"One of the biggest recruiting tools we have at Indiana is the atmosphere here during a big game," Davis said. "This new scoreboard will be a great resource in helping us continue to build our significant homecourt advantage."

Too bad it won't improve the on-court product. And without improved on-court product, will that many fans get excited about seeing more losses projected on that fine new board? At least the lights on the Assists column won't burn out from overuse as long as Davis is there.

I'll be sure to ask my Dad how it looks after the first game as I won't be stepping foot in AH.

I can hardly wait to see this "great resource". What a waste of good money. What IU really needs is a new basketball coach followed by a new stadium. Then we will have an excellent following.
