Officials are humans... they make mistakes... and I can understand a missed call here and there. But 3 missed Illegal blocks in the back right as all 3 were getting ready to tackle the punt returner??? That's BS! And at a key point in the game at 10-7. Turned the momentum right there. Guess that was their way of getting back at Coach Hep for his earlier outburst on the sideline.
I would have loved to have seen a replay of what happened right in front of Coach Hep where IU was called for a "Late Hit" when they had the ball. Hep went NUTS! And ESPN didn't show a replay. He must have been right... ESPN refuses to show replays when an official blows a call.
Then right before the end of the half, Hardy goes out of bounds with 9 seconds on the clock and the official doesn't blow the clock dead until 5 seconds, preventing IU from taking one shot into the end zone. Gimme a break!
What in the world was the call on Wisconsin's punt of the second half. Holding on Indiana, but instead of enforcing it from the end of the run, or the spot of the hold, they enforced it from the point where the punt returner caught the ball. I've never seen this in my life. And of course the ESPN crew totally missed it.
Nice of the officials to call holding penalties on Indiana on every punt return but didn't call a single one on Wisconsin despite their repeated holding and illegal block in the backs on every punt return. Hep was just burning up at the officials the whole game. Sadly we IU fans are just used to getting screwed.
Don't get me wrong... I am not blaming the loss on the officials. I would just like to see a level playing field.
To ESPN:
Who were the 2 doing this game??? Todd Harris and Scott Goodyear?? Just kidding... it was
Pam Ward and David Norrie... Is this ESPN's F team???These 2 were AWFUL!!!! Some of their finer quotes:
"Indiana doesn't have a very good field goal kicker." Then Joe kicked a 34 yarder dead center with about 20 yds to spare.
"Calhoun is having a very subpar rushing day today? Is something wrong with him?" Uh Pam... It's called a defensive game plan. IU was taking the running game away.
"Wisconsin is rushing it pretty well today Pam. It's Indiana that can't run the ball today." Then ESPN shows a graphic that has IU with 58 rushing yards and Wisconsin with 59. Sorry David... wrong! Funny stuff.
"Last week Michigan really bottled up Calhoun" Then ESPN put up a graphic showing that he rushed for 155 yds last week. Sorry David... wrong again. Are you kidding me??? What planet are these 2 from?
"Indiana held Wisconsin to 3 points in the 3rd quarter outscoring them 10-3" Sorry Pam... no they didn't... it was 3-0 Wisconsin in the 3rd.
"Marcus Randle-El is injured and isn't playing for Wisconsin." What was that Pam? If he is injured and not playing, then who was that in there returning kicks for Wisconsin?
I nominate Pam and David for the JUST SHUT UP Award!
ESPNs football coverage is getting as bad as their IRL coverage.
If only the TV and the Radio satellites were sync'd up. I'd have turned off the TV and listened to the Radio. But unfortunately they were about 5 seconds off and I couldn't take that.
I loved that 2 minute period in the 2nd quarter where we listened to the audio from the Tennessee game while watching the IU game. Nice job ESPN!
And how many Sportcenter Cut-Ins can they have during 1 game? I feel like I am getting to see IU-Wisc highlights in between all the SC updates.
To the Football...
Wisconsin 41 IU 24
Powers had a few good passes and a few really bad passes. The Post to Hardy that went for 83 and TD was perfect... hit him in stride. The 2 Interceptions in the first half were very bad... but young QB in a tough environment... understandable. The 46 yd TD to Bailey was perfectly thrown.
The Defense looked really good at times. IU was playing to stop the run and effectively did so. The LB blitzes were effective and the DE's dropping back in coverage proved they could stick with the receivers. Unfortunately a couple of times Wisky did a good job of picking up the blitzes and Porter and Myers were burnt in one-on-one coverage.
Special Teams were tough to call. IU was called for holding on every punt return and yet Wisky wasn't called once. Beatty had a couple of 50+ and a couple under 30. Kickoffs were deep and well covered. Kleinschmidt converted his 1 fg attempt.
To the Fans...
Here are some of the finer fan comments on Peegs.com during the game... Sad thing is that these are the same people that are supporting Mike Davis!
"We're TERRIBLE!"
"when you cant stop an oposing teams one-dimensional offense, your defense is bad especially when they beat you with there worst dimension"
"Powers is Wisky's MVP, did he forget we are wearing white? UNREAL!"
"I understand powers and the team need time, but this is really just unacceptable"
"Smokes and mirrors. We are flat out terrible."
"the qb is playing at a level lower than you can find at bloomington north and south at this moment. look at the numbers there is no denying it."
"Being down by 17 at the beginning of the second is HORRIBLE. There is NO CHANCE of coming back."
"We need to recruit some db's. Majors and Porter have been flat out awful today."
"Why don't we use Hardy more?? Are we hiding him for some reason?"
"We almost lost to Nicholls State. we are terrible."
"the d-backs are terrible"
"the more things change, the more they stay the same"
"Yup... BCS, here we come!!"
"Can anyone in our secondary cover a WR?"
"Poor play-calling... poor punt"
"Hoosiers are shooting themselves in the foot"
"Can't put the Defense on the field all freakin' day. I say it's time for Hep to go to McFarland"
"Nice blocking Justin. that was a pathetic effort"
"No kidding. that was inexcusable"
"Powers just looks bad. 2 pass out of bounds. Good Grief."
"Powers has looked bad most of the time. He looked horrid against Nicholls State."
"Let's face it. He's lame for a Big Ten QB."
"he's off-balance 90% when he throws. hes not a good QB"
"Hardy needs to get mean... he's been pushed around by some little guy all day."
"Let's face it, our O-line is pathetic against a legit Division I D-line."

I was just checking out your blog site. I think you have a good setup here. It's worth another return visit. This is a good one yes indeed!
I have a airport limousine service, site. It pretty much covers airport limousine service, related stuff.
Come take a look!
Indiana did a fine job yesterday under the circumstances. Let's give the coach a break. He knows the players need to be focused and work hard every play of the game. He knows the coaches have their hands full this year. He understands that he needs some horses to compete with the "big dogs." Give him a year or two to recrute and we will be there. I am very impressed with Coach Hep and his atitude he brings to the university. We will beat Illinois. Go Hoosiers.
Let's see...we come into this game on a HUGE high after some great calls by a new coach. Then, we lose to a powerhouse team, and we're in the toilet? I've got news for the Peegsters - if they think they're in pain now, just wait until we play a few more ranked teams. Those Davis fanatics will be calling for Hep's head.
So far, Hep has brought more passion and excitement back to IU football than I could have hoped. The jury's still out, but if those Peegs losers are willing to kiss Davis's ass, they'd better cut a new coach some slack. After all, "you go to war with the army you have..."
Not sure what game all those naysayers were watching, but I was impressed, excited, and happy. That IU football team, short of some sloppy plays leading to turnovers, played Wisconsin competitively and, in some cases, straight up.
Even after a 3-0 start I wasn't expecting to compete for the Big Ten title. But I like what I see. And for the first time in recent memory, I'm looking foward to IU football.
