Exhibit 2095:
WISH-TV Interview aired on 10/14 at 6pm
When asked his thoughts about having Hoosier Hysteria at 9pm instead of Midnight, Mike Davis said:
"And we have a chance to practice twice on Saturday where before we practiced one time on Saturday because the guys were so tired and excited."Are you kidding me? These are 19-22 year olds in great shape and they get tired from a 3-pt shooting contest and a dunk contest? And can only practice once the next day? Hmmm... I guess that could explain the difficulties the last 2 years then. Since they were so tired and excited from Midnight Madness, they just weren't prepared enough for the season. Having that extra practice tomorrow will make all the difference in the world this year.

IU's expectations 'should be high' in Davis' 6th season - Indystar.com
Davis is in mid-season form already... and nothing has changed... which just gives me so much confidence that things will be different this year... here are some good quotes:
"I believe that the expectations should be tied to your talent level and not with the name on your jersey," Davis said. "Sometimes you just don't have the horses. But that's not the case with us this year."So as IU fans, we shouldn't have high expectations just because it is Indiana? We have to look at the talent on the team, then we can set our expectations? Thanks Mike for making my point on why you are not the right coach for IU. As the head coach, you are responsible for fielding a team EVERY year. If you fail as a recruiter, and your coaching ability can't make up for it, that bad year is YOUR fault. At a school like Indiana, we expect a good year EVERY year.
"We've got more talent this year than in any season I've been at Indiana and that includes the three years I spent as an assistant. Expectations should be high this season. The talent is here. Now it's just a matter of us playing team basketball.''You just don't get it do you Mike? Last year you came out with the "We are going to be really good this year. No one understands how good we are going to be." And we know how last year turned out. Every year you come out with those brilliant statements, then when the coaching talent runs out and the team folds, the excuses start flying. Can't wait for the excuses this year.
"We've got big guys who can really play and score and who are going to demand double teams," Davis said. "We've got guards who can hit the spot-up shots. We've got bigs who can run, and bigs who can shoot from the outside. We've got a combination of everything."Interesting. Then I guess I should be expecting a totally different offense this year. Personally Bigs who can run and bigs who can shoot from the outside don't excite me. I'd like to see Bigs who can dominate inside. But I look forward to seeing the expanded offense.
"There's not one guy on this team that I just have to play," Davis said. "There's not one guy that you look at and say, 'If he's not hitting shots or if he's not playing well, IU is really in trouble.' We have at least 12 guys who can flat-out play. Sean Kline has probably made the most improvement out of anybody. He's really playing well.''Hey... I see the opening for the first excuse of the year. When IU loses that first close game I can hear it now. "Our problem this year is that we don't have that "go to" guy down the stretch."
And I'm glad to see that Sean Kline is playing well. We'll see if Davis ever plays him and if he does play him, will the IU student section start booing him again this year?
