Are you kidding me??? In the 70s, 80s and 90s... absolutely! In the 00s... not even close. Powerhouse programs don't go .500 over 2 and a half years and miss the NCAA Tourney on consecutive years.
"This is a terrific honor for those who have helped the Indiana basketball program throughout the years," Indiana head coach Mike Davis said. "This is a credit to the players and coaches of the past, as well as the IU fans and students. We are honored to be a part of such a storied history at Indiana, and we appreciate the recognition ESPN has given the IU basketball program."Wow! That quote sure doesn't sound like Davis. I wonder who the ghost writer was. If that was a Davis quote, it would have sounded more like this:
"Um, This is um a terrific honor for me. I mean we were the #4 seed last year and now we are a top 10 er program according to um ESPN. This is a credit to my assistants and our players and their mad skillz. This um just shows that I should a be paid the same as Roy Williams, Tom Izzo, and Tubby Smith. I mean I need a new contract extension in order to er get the Duke type recruits to come here and keep the IU um program in the top 10."

We're the fourth seed!
I'm going to sign a Top Five class every year!
Keep up the good work, Steve!
In recent years, how many times has the powerhouse Valparaiso gone further in the NCAA tournament than IU?
