He's back!

The Mike we have all come to love was back in rare form last night with his post-game quotes.

On holding Dee Brown to single digit points:

MD: "You can't take credit for guarding Dee Brown. He's one of the best players in our league. I think he just missed some open shots, but he still had 11 assists. We can't take credit for that because Dee is an awfully good player. I thought Lewis (Monroe) did a great job. Dee is a good player and hard to guard. He is one of my favorite players in college basketball."

Poor Lewis Monroe. Last week he has his "roid surgery" plastered all over the country. Last night he and Earl Calloway played outstanding defense on Dee Brown and yet his coach says "you can't take credit for guarding Dee Brown... he just missed open shots..." WHAT??? I wonder how hard Lewis and Earl will play on Defense the next time they play Dee Brown.

On Marco Killingsworth in the second half:

MD: "Marco is a guy that can get his shot off against anyone. It doesn't matter who we are playing against, the person guarding him is going to be taller. In that second half, he made some big time plays for us. He hadn't been hurt at all this year and when he went down, I thought something serious was wrong."
So last night after the game Davis says he hadn't been hurt at all this year until he went down in the 2nd half... yet today on the JMV show on WNDE, Davis said that Marco's back spasms were so bad earlier this week that he didn't think he was even going to play against Illinois. Hmmm... which Davis to believe???

And last night I gave Davis Credit for making an adjustment at the half... as it turns out... I should have given the Credit to Marco instead:
Killingsworth, who was 1-of-5 shooting in the first half, said he got on his teammates at halftime to get him the ball more.

"I kind of went a little crazy with the guys and told them to get me the ball,'' Killingsworth said. "I felt much more comfortable in the second half.''
