Wallpapergate!

So just after I published my earlier thoughts, I modified my google search and found a couple of more opinion pieces along with the "Baboon" wallpaper. There is some good stuff here.

Monkey business has designers fighting mad - Matthew Tully - indystar.com

Daniels should have declined Guild's invitation - indystar.com letter to the editor

I have nothing to say about this.

Steph I think that would be the perfect wallpaper for your house. And a perfect backdrop for a Christmas Card you and Stephanie could send Mitch.

I's just like to add that the wallpaper was to go in a ladies' room. Half the visitors to the gov's residence would never have seen it, and the other half only briefly. People can argue about whether they like the wallpaper or not (I don't) but there is no way that disagreement about the wallpaper should have derailed that quarter-of-a-million-dollar charitable event.

The governor won't live in the residence, and now he won't allow it to function as a public asset.

Hisss.

reminds me of what Nancy Reagan did back when her husband was elected gov of Calif.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Reagan

from wiki:
"She attracted controversy at the start of her stint when she moved out of the Governor's Mansion in Sacramento, after fire officials had described it as a "firetrap", and into a wealthy suburb. This move was perceived by many as snobbery."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Governor's_Mansion

again from wiki.

"The state built a new governor's residence in the Sacramento suburb of Carmichael, which was completed just as Reagan left office. The new governor, Jerry Brown, refused to live in the house, which was then sold by the state in 1982"

I read that the unused Sacramento mansion cost $4 million to build.

So looks like Mitch and Sherry have to waste another $3.75 mil to catch up.

Double Hiss!!!

And why in the next comment do you bring up the Reagans??? While I agree it is very similar, I'm sure Mitch would LOVE to be compared to President Reagan in any way. ;-)

Just to clarify, the two Anonymous comments were not from the same person. I wrote the one ending with the hiss, and someone else wrote the Reagan link.

I suppose I could register with blogger and have a name, but I kinda like signing Anonymous.

Sorry AZ... I realized they were different comments from different people... I just wasn't clear in my response to both of them in the same comment.

I still double hiss your anonymous comment!
