Davis Follow-up

Here is what is being said about Davis not coaching today:
On ESPN, they are sticking with the Davis was sick story. Though both Digger and Bilas on the GameDay wrap-up commented that when the negativity is starting to affect your players... That is exactly the time they need him on the bench. You would have to be awfully sick to not be on the bench in this situation. "It's tough to win when your head coach isn't on your bench. Especially when that game is a must win."

Andy Katz said that he talked with Davis today and Mike told him that he started feeling ill around 1am and that his entire body ached, but he had been feeling beat down through the course of the week. But what has made him more sick was the students protesting a team that is 1 game out of first place and that has affected his players and while watching the second half of the game today he could see it in their body language that there was nothing there. There was no energy. Before the Wisconsin game, in the locker room you would have thought that this team was in last place not a game out of first place and that it is because of all the negativity around the program is really affecting the program. He said he was going to try to recover this the rest of the season. Andy claimed he asked Mike if he would resign and Mike said "No Way!"
The students and alumni are NOT protesting the team. UGH!!!!!!!!!

Despite feeling drained, Davis vows to go on - espn.com

The Local Indy news at 6pm barely even mentioned that Davis was sick and not there. I find that very odd.

The Indystar also barely mentioned it.

IU falls to Iowa; Davis misses game
- indystar.com
It was the sixth loss in nine games for Indiana (13-8, 5-5), which did not have coach Mike Davis on the bench as he stayed home with a flu-like illness.
Something smells. ESPN makes a big deal about Davis not being there. Yet all the local media blow it off like it happens all the time. Something is really wrong with this picture. I think Mike Pegram had it right earlier today.

If more pops up, I'll have it.

So let me get this straight.

Davis is too sick to coach. But he can take phone calls from the media and blame everything on the fans. And what was with the "ache all over" comment. I can't coach because I ache?

Anyone notice Andy said Davis told him he started feeling ill at 1am? That's a bit different than the Donny Marsh comment that Davis had been really sick for the last couple of days.

I agree that something smells.

Please tell me Davis didn't blame the fans again. I was at the game today supporting the team. Where was Davis? He sure as Hell wasn't at the game supporting the team.

I'm a Junior at IU and I would really like to be able to root for a team in the NCAA Tourney. Can he please go away so IU can get a good coach.

Mike sure is Mad... Psycho mad.

It's always someone else's fault.

Time for Mike to be fired. He resigned, then changed his mind. Time for RG to say "You're Fired!"
