Flu huh? ESPN made a big deal about just how sick Mike is. If he ends up not being sick and did in fact resign. That spin is the biggest bunch of Horseshit ever and they better clean house in the PR department as well.
Mike Pegram posted on PEEGS about 10 minutes before the game that the players and a coach had confirmed to him that Davis had resigned and the Davis Era is over. For Mike to post that... and risk his access to the program if weren't true... confirms to me that it is true! Then 2 minutes into the game, Mike notified everyone that he had to take down his post:
going to have to take down my post below | Reply |
I still honestly believe we are the end here and have good sources but politics is going to cause me to take down my post here
just a heads up so people are aware of what may have happened
Hmmm... Politics huh? That just proves to me that he has resigned and the Davis ERA is over!!! What a happy day. Now I can just root for these kids to pull out a win knowing that a new exciting future is in store for them.
I am stunned by the amount of Black! I expected a handful of folks... it looks like a thousand wore black today. I counted 32 sitting in the section right behind the IU bench. Those aren't students or Iowa fans. Thanks Coach Hoeppner for wearing Black as well! You are the man!
Ole on the first play for a Brunner layup.
Ole on the second play for a Heleska layup.
Ole for a Thomas dunk.
Ole for a Brunner layup.
Ole for a Horner layup.
The Pepper Pot for a 3!!! Wait... Now he is a Fireplug per Majerus!
Ole on the Horner 3. Vaden wasn't within 5 feet of Horner... big time OLE!
Interesting comments from Majerus about how Killingsworth always drops his head when driving to the basket and has to guess where the rim is. Explains the missed bunnies.
Nice Ole Marco on the Brunner 3 to end the half.
Iowa 38 - IU 30 at the half.
Ole for a Brunner layup.
Ole for another Brunner layup.
16 turnovers in 30 minutes... combined with the Ole defense and this team has no chance.
I love Majerus... "That was just a horrible shot!" "Marco is just lazy." "Shot selection has been IU's bugaboo." He calls it as he sees it.
Purdue is up 20 over Michigan at the half. Further evidence that a good coach will beat a bad coach any day of the week.
Majerus made the following comment: "Here's where Indiana invariably makes a foolish foul." And immediately the following happens: A big Ole! and the foul by Marco. "You get beat, why do you slap down and pick up a silly foul?" - Majerus
"Marco just doesn't have the explosiveness to jump up and throw that down." - Majerus
If Marco has 5% body fat, then I should be doing Speedo Commercials. Marco is too heavy and Vaden is too heavy. I know heavy and those 2 are too heavy." - Majerus
"The one thing you must not do if you are IU, is foul Haleska." What does IU immediately do? They foulded Haleska. And Majerus went nuts. Dude needs to buy some lottery tickets. He has been calling it all day.
Kudos to Donnie Marsh down the stretch. His strategy was dribble penetration and it got Indiana back in it and gave IU a chance to get the win.
Iowa's FT shooting down the stretch had to make Alford SICK!
Number of times ESPN told us Mike was sick. 21. If this were a drinking game I would be dead now.
Iowa 70 - IU 67
IU 13-8 and 5-5 in the B10
Stay tuned to see how quickly the Davis Resignation is confirmed.

My fingers are crossed hoping it's true!
If what I am hearing is true, this is becoming an absolute JOKE!
I've heard from multiple sources that Davis did in fact resign yesterday after telling his players and coaching staff he was going to do so. Not only did Peegs report this, but I heard it directly from a Trustee.
But not so fast my friend!
Herbert and Greenspan supposedly tried to talk him out of it, and came up with this "sickness" story to buy him a day. They are hoping he will reconsider and play the season out till the end.
If so, this administration needs a complete overhaul. That is the sickest thing they could do to both the players and the fans.
I sure hope the truth comes out on this one.
This all sounds a bit dodgey to me. My Bullshit meter is beeping.
Steve, is this Pegram fellow reliable? I don't hang out on peegs.com so I don't know his body of work.
Regarding the game, Iowa sure gave IU every opportunity to steal a victory. I thought Walsh's substitution pattern was interesting. He was trying to find combos that worked as well as used the team's depth to its advantage.
Mike Pegram founded Peegs.com 10+ years ago. Ran it as his own until being forced to sell to Rivals.com. Part of his deal with Rivals, was he continued to run the site as he has the long term relationship with the fans and IU. He also was the first Internet Media person to get a media credential from IU. Through the whole Knight deal, Mike remained 100% neutral, only reporting the facts. Through the last 6 years he has remained exactly the same during the Davis years. He can't risk losing his access to the program by posting rumors. Likewise, he can't risk pissing off the Hoosier Nation that make his board, the #1 message board for IU Hoops.
If he reported that Davis resigned because he confirmed it with Players, Coaches and Trustees. I guarantee you that he talked with Players, Coaches and Trustees.
