IU Pregame - Iowa

Time for Spin and Damage Control.

IU tries to limit protests at game - Indystar.com

A few of the better quotes from Greenspan:
"I think sometimes people think when they do things like that they're being cute, but I think in the long run it damages the university," Greenspan said. "It hurts us from a recruiting standpoint and it hurts the players that are representing IU. I would hope people would think about how something like that would make the players feel."
Umm... Rick, I don't think they are trying to be cute. I think they are trying to voice their displeasure. How does it damage the University? Any more than Davis has in the last 6 years? The fans hurt recruiting? I thought the fact that Davis can't run an offense, blames his players, doesn't help them improve AT ALL, is hurting recruiting. And why does this keep going back to the players and how they feel? If they could talk freely, I have a feeling that to a man, they are upset about being blamed and thrown under the bus after every loss. I give the players all the credit in the world for taking the blame and being loyal. Too bad Davis can't take any blame.

IT ISN"T THE FANS' FAULT! IT ISN"T THE PLAYERS' FAULT! IT IS MIKE DAVIS' FAULT AND RICK GREENSPANS' FAULT FOR NOT GETTING RID OF DAVIS LAST YEAR.
"I think it has been a season of a lot of ups and downs, and not just for us but for teams all around the Big Ten and the nation," Greenspan said. "As hard as it is, I try not to get too up with a win and too down with a loss. Iowa is alone in first place and they go to Northwestern and lose, and Wisconsin goes on the road and loses to Purdue. I continue to maintain that there's a lot of basketball left to be played this season."
So if Iowa comes to IU and wins... what does that mean? IU still has to go to Purdue. Since Wisconsin blew out IU and lost at Purdue, are we just to expect a loss at Purdue? I'm quickly losing confidence in Greenspan.
