Thank you Comcast Local for showing the Women's Big 10 Tournament.
Watching Sharon Versyp's Hoosiers was a joy. Amazing how enjoyable it is to watch a well coached team run an offense that leads to good shots. And a team that plays help side defense.
IU jumped out to a 10-2 lead 8 minutes in.
I witnessed more screens in one Women's game than I've seen all season from the men.
IU 25 - Minny 20 at the half
For a freshman to play that many minutes and be in solid defensive position time and time again... Whitney Thomas is going to be a special player. Her fundamentals on the offensive end are nice to see. The inside drop step and the ball fake up and under were great to see.
But what is with the 30 second shot clock? All that does is lead to bad shots as the shot clock gets inside 10 seconds. Stupid!
IU 61 - Minny 46
Next up will be Purdue on Sunday.
Then I watched the Mens' IU-Purdue game. UGH! What a contrast in styles. Andy, I should have listened to you, but no... I had to watch the whole game. Man that first half was UGLY!
Ole Count = 6
Bad Shot Count = 14
And that was just the first half... for the whole game:
Ole Count = 14
Bad Shot Count = 15
Amazing how eliminating bad shots in the second half helps your shooting percentage and increases your chances to win. Good thing because the defense was awful the whole game.
My how I love those Marco complaints and cheapshots. Maybe if Marco would quit complaining to the officials and play some defense, his man wouldn't have career nights every time out.
IU 70 - Purdue 59
I saw Greenspan sitting there at the B10 tourney... I wonder what was going through his mind? The difference between Coach Versype and Mike Davis is Night and Day! Coaching vs No Coaching. System vs Street Ball. Thank goodness the IU Men's program will have a 'real' coach next year.
