NCAA Day 2 Summary

Let me say it one more time... "Billy Packer, Shut the Hell UP!!!!" Again today the little guy proves the Selection Committee right with upset after upset.

Iowa knocked out by the incredible 3 from the corner from tiny Northwestern State.

Bucknell beats Arkansas.

George Mason upset Michigan State.

NC State in a small upset beat California

Bradley takes out Self's Kansas in the first round... think the Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk fans are wanting Roy back? 2 straight first round exits.

And even though they didn't win, Davidson had the bucknuts nervous, Monmouth battled Villanova all day, Albany made UCONN sweat, Murray State had the Tar Heels on the ropes until late, and Penn stayed within a couple of possessions of Texas.

What another great day of basketball.

Note to self, don't pick teams that win their conference tournament to go far in the NCAA next year. Syracuse, Iowa, Kansas all win their conference tourneys, then bow out of the big dance early... tired legs from 3 games in 3 days?

I've never liked the conference tournaments for that exact reason. In years when I cared about IU (read: after Davis failed to leverage his post-Final Four "political capital" into a winning trend instead of a fluke) I usually rooted for them to get upset in the quarter finals so they had more time to rest for the NCAA. There's definitely a lack of adequate recovery time. And major conference teams suffer. And it screws up everyone's office pools with upsets!!

I'm with ya Corkster. I'd love to see the B10 end their tournament and go back to a full round robin regular season.

Not only would the B10 Regular Season champion truly be a champion, but all B10 teams would be fresh for the NCAA tourney.

But greed will never allow it. Instead the B10 tourney will permanently be in Chicago and I won't ever attend.
