Breaking News re: Mike Davis

According to the Birmingham News, Mike Davis has accepted the UAB job.

Congrats Mike, you have a clean slate... hope you learned from your mistakes at IU. And I hope Robert enjoys Birmingham. There is a darn fine BBQ Joint on 14th Ave.

I sure hope IU had a clause in the contract buyout that returned the money to IU if he found another job. At least that is how severence packages work for us normal folks. But I doubt IU was smart enough to include that clause.

An interesting paragraph:
Anderson left to become the head coach at the University of Missouri on March 26. Margison said at the time he was searching for a coach who favored the up-tempo style used by Anderson’s teams at UAB. Davis’ teams haven’t played that style but he did come to Birmingham last fall to learn some of the nuances of a system that Anderson learned from Nolan Richardson and dubbed “The Fastest 40 Minutes in Basketball” at UAB.
If they wanted an up-tempo coach... they should have hired Mike Anderson's main assistant.

Anybody here gonna follow UAB now? You know, just to see what happens?

I'll be watching. If Davis can ever succeed, it would be at UAB.

These guys are about to be blindsided if they believe this stuff from C.M. Newton:

"Mike's teams at Indiana ran," said C.M. Newton, who coached Davis as a freshman at Alabama. "Now they didn't play the full-court pressure that Mike Anderson's teams played, and he's more of a half-court defensive coach. His will be a fun type of game to watch, jam it inside and go inside-out."

Okay Hoosier fans, let's point out all the things wrong with this sentence. Or at least make us pity the poor fans of UAB.

*Laughing point 1: Mike's teams at Indiana ran.
*Laughing point 2: Davis is more of a half-court defensive coach. Of course, Hoosier fans aren't sure which half or which court.
*Laughing point 3: Davis's teams are fun to watch. LOL. Wait, wait. Did he say fun?? LOL. Make it stop!

Feel free to add your own just from this paragraph alone.

He's gone. I need to let this guy go. Can anybody recommend a good electroshock-ologist?

Steve:

Mike has found his niche in coaching basketball. This is where Mike belongs. UAB is in the second division (the minor league)of the NCAA colleges.

Mike could not handle the first division. (the big league) I wish him the very best and I hope he can be somewhat successfull at this minor league level.

Steve: "Get off the dead horse."

BUT: Keep us informed as he progresses throughout the next basketball season.

I do hope he takes Vaden and leaves D.J. at I.U.

Finally, closure to this issue.
