Out comes Greenspan with an internal investigation into Sampson and the IU men's basketball program which revealed illegal phone calls.
I'm sorry, but what was it that Sampson was busted for at Oklahoma? Illegal phone calls I do believe. I seem to remember Sampson apologizing for the oversight and promising that it would never happen again.
So what happens while coaching at IU? More illegal calls!
I don't care how minor this is... the fact that Sampson was under scrutiny for this very topic and then proceeded to do something against the rules shows either ignorance or blatant disrespect for the rules under which NCAA coaches operate. I don't know which is worse.
And it's not just Sampson who disappoints in this situation. How can the IU assistants not know every nuance of these rules? Shame on them. And how can the IU administration not have been monitoring every incoming and outgoing call? The 10 calls were spread out... about 1 a month? How can the IU administration let that happen? Shame on Greenspan.
Maybe more details will arise that will change my mind, but right now I am disgusted that Sampson and the IU administration put themselves in this situation and put IU under the ongoing microscope of cheating.

Sampson, Greenspan, and the assistant coach or coaches need to be fired immediately. ALL OF THEM, TODAY! I do not mean five years from now.
What a disgrace to THE GREAT INDIANA UNIVERSITY. Just what we need. A BLACK eye. We had a top notched program established for many years. Now look at us. It was brought down by Coach Davis and now this. How disgusting and embarrassing.
Coach Weber will get the last laugh and that disgusts me totally.

I WANT TO TURN IN MY SEASON TICKETS AND GET MY MONEY BACK.
It is quite evident that I need to support IPFW more then every before. GO COACH FIFE!

Sadly, those are my exact feelings TS. I'd rather lose with dignity than win by cheating. I'm going to see how it plays out this week but I'm seriously considering asking for a refund of my season tickets.
