Josh Smith loses to a girl in the Slam Dunk contest at the McDonalds All-American game and in turn becomes ineligble to play college basketball by playing in 3 all-star events.
The Indy Star runs a story today on Josh Smith stating that Mike Davis had a backup plan and received an oral commitment from Julius Ashby, a 6-9 forward from Marshalltown (Iowa) Community College.
This morning Peegs issues an Inside The Locker Room that mentions that Bracey is leaving IU and if not drafted, will go to Europe next year.
Peegs also substantiated a rumor that Auburn completed a backround check on Mike Davis and is no longer interested. Now this one I want to hear more about. It did lead to one of the best posts on Peegs in quite a while:

I have it from VERY reliable sources why Auburn has backed off after running a background check on Davis. I guess they pulled a great deal of our game tapes and realized the guy is clueless and can't coach.
Then at noon today, The Herald Times posted online that Julius Ashby had committed to Colorado last week. Guess that back up plan backfired.
