So the No Fun League puts their heads together and comes up with a brilliant penalty for ending "choreographed and multi-player celebrations"... 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct. Hmmm... isn't that what the penalty has always been? Oh well... In trying to highlight the types of "fun" that are out of bounds, the competition committee put together a video and what did they single out? The Colts pre-kickoff sway during the TV timeout. They called it "taunting!" I have excerpted a bit from the Indy Star:
At one point, a large screen displayed the Colts' kickoff unit, swaying in unison, prior to a kickoff in a game in which the Colts were leading the Atlanta Falcons 31-0. The media laughed. The NFL's competition committee didn't.
"I think it's taunting," Pereira said. "It's 31-to-nothing and they're doing it."
He was told the Colts danced similarly on the game's opening kickoff.
"Then it's offensive," he replied. "It's a group demonstration and that's not going to be allowed."
Wow, it sure is a bad thing to have a team have some fun with their fans during a 2 minute break where the NFL is making millions on Ads being sold. Guess we should just all sit quietly and enjoy 2 minutes of nothing after each score. Geez!
