Yes it is official, Marko Killingsworth officially announced that he is transferring to IU. Anyone who decides to come to IU deserves a warm welcome.
Killingsworth wants to play for IU - Indy Star
However, I am not so sure what to think about this from the Basketball side. Coach Knight avoided transfers due to a perceived lack of loyalty... if a player were willing to give up on a commitment, how loyal would they be the second time around? What bad habits did they pick up from the original school? What baggage do they bring with them? Can they fit into a new system in a year or 2? For these reasons I don't know what to think about this.
From a talent standpoint, he can only help. Marko, a Parade All American, a 6-7 widebody power forward, is certainly something IU needs. He should be able to help D.J. White in practice this year and help in the year 1 A.D.
Yes 1 A.D. stands for the 1st year After Davis. But I'll save that for another post(s) and 9 months from now we shall see.
For now, check out Marko's past and hope that he can contribute to IU.

Well... the one thing that stands out to me is that we are offering this kid a scholarship for 2 years (the one open b/c of Smith's NBA declaration) and he has to sit out next year.. so, a two year scholarship for only one year donning the cream & crimson.. better be a heck of a year for him.
I also love the fact that the ath. dept must've given him a script to read for his statement. "Missing piece", "in-coming freshman class", "Bracey Write", "one step away from a championship"... and, of course the obligatory, "love for MD's offensive system..."
that being said.. welcome aboard!

This just has a really strange feel to it. Second-team all SEC conference players don't just have "revelations" that they belong somewhere else.
I don't think Mr. Killingsworth has met Mr. Wright if he thinks they're actually going to play in a game together.
